ACTOR ~ AUTHOR ~ PROMOTER
DARN OLDHAM started writing while in Northeastern High School in Detroit MI. He completed a love story entitled “On The Wrong Track”, which his English teacher read and consequently recommended him to join the school’s newspaper staff. Upon joining "The Review" as a reporter in his sophomore year, Darn became a copywriter and then Copy Editor on the staff. Finally, in his senior year, he became Editor-In-Chief of "The Review", the oldest high school newspaper in Detroit.
After an honorable discharge from the Army, where he was assigned to the U.S. Army Security Agency (ASA), a sister organization to the National Security Agency (NSA), Darn attended The University of Washington DC where he majored in Drama with a minor in Journalism. While in DC, he became one of the original members of the D.C. Black Repertory Theatre Company.
Later he moved to Los Angeles where he had bit parts in numerous TV shows, movies, commercials, and stage plays before appearing in the movies “Grey Knight” (also known as “Ghost Brigade”), “A Hollywood Story”, “Real Stories of the Donut Men” and “Western Avenue”. He toured the West Coast in “Evolution of The Soul Brother” and toured the country for two years in “Living Room”, the sister play to “Beauty Shop”. He has also appeared in over fourteen TV quiz shows and other stage productions in Los Angeles.
While living in Los Angeles for over 30 years, Darn was involved in event planning and promotions at different venues throughout the City while working as a Technical Recruiter with McDonnell-Douglas and Boeing aircraft companies.
He moved to Atlanta, GA for several years and while there booked the lead in several commercials including: Georgia's Lottery Christmas Barbershop Commercial, Delta Airlines "UP" Commercial , the Ford “Stand By Me” Commercial, as well as some others and has also appeared in several stage plays touring the South.
Darn is also a published author. His novel “Choices” was published in June 2018 by JAED Publications and is available here on this website and on Amazon.com and BarnesandNoble.com. He recently completed “Why Must I Chase Da Cat?” an anthology compiled of
short stories based on some of the characters introduced in “Choices”. “Why Must I Chase Da Cat” is also available on here on this website and on Amazon.com and BarnesandNoble.com.
Darn is now bi-coastal living back in Los Angeles and Atlanta, GA with his beautiful wife Barbara and enjoys letting his writing juices flow as he uses incidents from his L.A. and ATL past to fuel his creative muses.
