Synopsis
Is there such a thing as "The One", as in the one person meant for ALL of us? Doug thinks so. He thinks "The One" is his soul mate and she's waiting for him to choose her. But his best friends scoff at that way of thinking. They think "The One" to choose is whichever "one" you want to be with THIS day....and a different "one" the next day. Doug claims to be tired of making those type of choices. In the meantime, on the east coast, Copper is attempting to get her life together after going through a divorce from a cheating husband, abandoned by her father and raising a daughter. She relies a lot on her two sisters, Ebony and Mahogany, but feels Black men have let her down. Her path crosses Doug's. However, the fact that he's Black and lives on the west coast doesn't sit right with her. This story is told from the two different points-of-view of Doug and Copper. They want the same thing but see the same things differently. Will their personal beliefs keep their eyes closed to possibilities? Will they choose their first choice or their second?
